The Talk Box. The Talk Box was put together by speech-language pathologists to share ideas about creating language-rich environments for preschool and school-age children. Children learn language everyday. Parents play an important role in their child’s speech and language development. The Talk Box shares ideas and activities for creating language-rich environments. It has everyday tips, information about what to expect in speech and language development, when to get help, and where to get help. This information is shared in newsletters, activity sheets, and information sheets that parents and professionals can reproduce from the website.

Kids in the House-Special Needs

Kids in the House is an educational website about parenting. The goal is to help parents and caregivers become better at parenting by inspiring, educating and entertaining. The 8,000 videos on this website feature interviews with the top experts in parenting, including physicians, psychologists, researchers, educators and best-selling authors, as well as leaders of national organizations. The videos also feature parents who have dealt with particular issues and can share their hard-earned wisdom. This section will answer tough questions about special needs including Autism, Asperger Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, gifted children, post-traumatic stress, physical differences, and more. The doctors, therapists and parents of special needs children will guide you through the essentials of how to raise a differently-abled child.

CanChild- The KIT: Keeping it Together-Youth Kit

The KIT: Keeping it Together™ is an organizational tool developed by CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research, and the Hamilton Family Network. It is a way to organize information, and to assist parents, and youth when interacting with different service systems, for example health, education, and recreation.
